Overview

The Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer or Scientist position at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Nashville, TN office. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both field and office settings. You will work on projects that address water quality, stormwater management, environmental compliance, and infrastructure monitoring, building a strong foundation for your career in environmental and water resources engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct erosion prevention and sediment control (EPSC) inspections
  • Perform transportation construction inspections
  • Collect and analyze stormwater samples
  • Conduct environmental compliance inspections
  • Monitor streams and assess waterway conditions
  • Map stormwater infrastructure
  • Prepare Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
  • Develop water quality permit applications
  • Write technical reports and supporting documentation
  • Assist with municipal stormwater compliance documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on project planning and execution

Qualifications
  • B.S. in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Interest or experience in stormwater inspections, construction inspections, water quality permitting, stormwater management, or permit compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Comfortable with outdoor work, including walking on uneven or slick terrain and working in inclement weather
Preferred Capabilities
  • Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Level 1 Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience with ArcGIS for mapping and spatial analysis
  • OSHA 10Hour training or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Leadership experience on small projects or field teams
  • Exposure to environmental compliance or permitting processes beyond stormwater
