Overview:
The Project Engineer I will play a key role in supporting project management activities, including project planning, design coordination, procurement, and construction oversight. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development in the field of structural engineering within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Assist project managers in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors, to facilitate project execution and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

  1. Design Support and Review:
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and design documents to identify potential issues, conflicts, or discrepancies, and collaborate with design teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Assist in the coordination of structural steel design and detailing activities, including review of shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection plans.

  1. Procurement and Material Management:
  • Support procurement activities, including material take-offs, vendor inquiries, and purchase order processing, to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment for projects.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams and suppliers to expedite delivery of materials, resolve material-related issues, and maintain accurate inventory records.

  1. Construction Oversight and Quality Assurance:
  • Assist in construction oversight activities, including site visits, inspections, and coordination with construction teams to monitor progress, resolve field issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and inspections of structural steel components, ensuring compliance with fabrication and erection requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project files, drawings, specifications, and correspondence, ensuring completeness, organization, and accessibility of project records.
  • Prepare and distribute project reports, progress updates, and meeting minutes to project teams, stakeholders, and management, providing timely and relevant information on project status, issues, and risks.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Entry-level candidates or recent graduates are encouraged to apply; relevant internship or work experience in structural/steel engineering or construction industry preferred.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of structural engineering principles, construction methods, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
