Job description

The Advanced Endoscopy Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to the medical plan of care and nursing standards across all perioperative phases, including Pre-op, Post-op, PACU, and the Operating Room (OR). This role involves directing and supporting other personnel while upholding the highest standards of professional nursing practice.
The Advanced Endoscopy Registered Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, age-appropriate care, incorporating principles of growth and development across the lifespan. This includes the ability to assess and interpret patient data to determine age- and procedure-specific care needs throughout the surgical experience.
Care is delivered in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, including responsibilities in both the scrub and circulating nurse roles. This position requires flexibility to float between the Pavilion and Main OR and includes participation in a weekday and weekend call rotation.
Requirements:
  • Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
  • ACLS within six (6) months of hire
  • BLS

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BSN, MSN
  • CGRN
  • CPAN
  • CAPA
  • CNOR
  • Cardiac monitoring
  • PALS within 12 months of hire
  • One (1) year of RN experience
  • Previous experience in ICU, ER, Med Surg, Pre or Post Op, PACU
  • Previous ambulatory surgery or OR experience

Skills:
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in all aspects of the OPS/PACU/Endoscopy Units.
  • Practices within scope of Nurse Practice Act.
  • Familiar with current Standards of Peri anesthesia Nursing Practice and AORN guidelines.
  • Ability to successfully complete all assigned annual Augusta Health education requirements and unit competencies, including annual education required per hospital certification(s).
  • Familiar with accrediting body standards applicable to daily work practices.
  • Demonstrates good leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates job related computer competence as seen in patient documentation and information retrieval, Meditech applications.
  • Ability to meet physical and mental requirements for job in a fast paced, surgical/procedural setting.
  • Ability to work on-call and rotating shifts
