Description:
Nurses on this unit care for adult patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems.
The patient population includes cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and more.
As a RN, you will be accountable for the coordination of direct patient care and education.
Daily census averages 29 patients.
The unit consists of 28 rooms and has 32 beds.
Additional interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
Frequent patient diagnoses include hypo/hypertension, CHF, chest pain, stroke pre/post-care, COPD, PE, conduction blocks, acute/chronic respiratory failure, end-stage renal failure, AFIB, and GI bleed.
Nurses will perform special procedures such as managing insulin drips for DKA, pre/post cardiac cauterizations, pacemakers, ablations, and cardioversions.
Must have experience with cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, and use of rapid response/code teams.
Familiarity with charting in a specific system is preferred.
Participation in weekend coverage is required.
Flexibility for pre-approved time off is necessary.
Please note that compliance with health policies, including fit testing, may be required.
