Position SummaryThe MDS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and completing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all federal and state regulations. This role plays a key part in supporting quality outcomes and appropriate reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities- Complete and oversee MDS assessments (OBRA, PPS, and PDPM) in an accurate and timely mannerย
- Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines and state regulationsย
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to gather necessary documentationย
- Monitor case mix index (CMI) and identify opportunities for optimizationย
- Participate in care plan meetings and ensure care plans reflect resident needsย
- Conduct audits to ensure documentation supports coding and reimbursementย
- Stay current on regulatory changes and best practicesย
Qualifications- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolinaย
- Previous MDS experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting requiredย
- Strong knowledge of PDPM, Medicare, and Medicaid reimbursementย
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skillsย
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teamsย
- Strong communication and problem-solving skillsย
