Job description

The Registered Nurse will work under the supervision of the Unit Manager/Director following the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice, and code of ethics within a Patient and Family Centered Care Model. A specialty staff nurse is responsible for administering care to those who present to Holzer facilities in the following areas: OB, Main OR, HSU, ED, CCU, and Cath lab. The Specialty Care Staff Nurse will assess patients’ condition, perform ordered diagnostic tests, begin care treatment plans and assist the providers with any required medical procedures while providing a holistic approach to care. Specialty Care Nurses work primarily in their designated area but can work in other departments such as cardiac care, medical/surgical care, or inpatient rehabilitation during times of critical staffing.

 

Education, Work Experience and Licensure
•    Graduate of an approved Nursing Education Program.
•    Holds a current State of Ohio RN License
•    BLS - Required
•    ACLS – Required
•    PALS – Required (ED, Main OR, HSU, CCU)
•    NRP- OB  
•    Previous experience preferred.
•    Specialty Certification in area of practice as determined by Director/Manager-Required within 6 months of eligibility.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
•    Assessment- collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation.
•    Nursing diagnosis- analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.
•    Outcome identification- identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
•    Planning- develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.        
•    Implementation- implements the identified plan.
o    Coordination of care (delegating)
o    Health teaching and health promotion
•    Evaluation- evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
