Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and accountable to the licensed nursing staff members, the CNA assists in providing patient care, and maintaining records and a clean environment.


Essential Functions

-Provides care appropriate to the age of the population served.
-Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of human growth and development.
-Provides proper personal hygiene and care to all patients.
-Accurately measures and records vital signs, weights and heights, and intake/output.
-Recognizes abnormal findings and reports such findings appropriately.
-Demonstrates knowledge of proper transfer techniques.
-Consistently provides preventative skin care measures and reports abnormalities to nursing staff.
-Provides meal assistance to patients as needed.
-Properly collects specimens as directed.
-Utilizes special beds appropriately and triggers alarms on all “high risk for falls” patients. 
-Keep patient rooms neat and tidy.
-Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.

- Will act as safety sitter as needed.
-Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled. 
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.

-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare amp; Medicaid Services (CMS).


Work Experience

-One year of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

-Clerical and medical terminology experience preferred.

-Basic computer experience preferred.

-Legible handwriting and ability to spell, ability to read and write English preferred.

-Utilize effective oral and written communication skills preferred.

-Performance of simple math calculations preferred.


Education

-Texas State Certified Nurse Aide License is required.

-BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire date required.
