Job description

Requirements MOS Code: None Education and Experience: Must be at least 16 years of age by the time of hire. Must have at least eight (8) hours of instruction experience in an aquatic environment. Licenses and Certifications: American Red Cross First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications by the time of hire.

American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or National Water Aerobic Instructor or United States Swim Association Swim Coach Certification by the time of hire. *Some positions may require current American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED certifications for the Professional Rescuer (ARC). Physical Requirements: Mobility within a swimming pool environment, to include leading and participating in water exercise classes, participating in rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.

General Purpose Under immediate supervision, teaches learn-to-swim, goal-specific water exercise programs, and other instructional swim programs. Enforce swimming pool safety rules and regulations, prevent injuries by minimizing hazardous situations and/or behaviors, and engage in general tasks associated with the operation of a swimming pool. Typical Duties Teach swimming practices to entry-level participants.

Teach water safety practices and procedures Maintain instruction progress and other reports on participants. Attends workshops for swim instructors. Lead a variety of water exercise programs in a pool class setting.

Teach multiple classes per day. Other duties as assigned, including monitoring the swimming pool to enforce safety rules and regulations and caution swimmers about unsafe swimming practices, rescue swimmers using necessary lifesaving techniques and administer minor first aid. Clean pool and pool area.

Perform minor adjustments and maintenance on the swimming pool's filtration and chlorination systems, and provide maintenance support (including chemical tests and maintenance order requests) as needed in the absence of the Pool Manager.
