Description

Skyworks is seeking a motivated Winter/Spring 2027 Co-op to join the Irvine, California, design team developing high-performance RFIC solutions for next-generation mobile applications!  This is an excellent opportunity to expand your technical knowledge as well as your peer network and launch a career in the field of mobile communications.
 
The Irvine design center is comprised of several tight-knit, inclusive teams. Every team is guided by the core principles of sharing, openness, collaboration, accountability, and trust. You will contribute to the realization of RF Front-End integrated circuits used in mobile phones from initial concept to final production. During the Co-op  you will see your valuable inputs directly translate into new ways of solving common problems, improving design methodology, or enhancing business culture or the work environment. Join us in experiencing all aspects of highly integrated semiconductor, module, and embedded RF circuit design.  You will also have the opportunity to experience our in-house prototype assembly laboratory and our world-class RF characterization laboratory.

Term: Winter/Spring (January 2027 - June 2027) 

Responsibilities

· Working with experienced engineers to design/develop RFIC for Multi-chip modules
· Designing RF switches, low noise amplifiers, couplers, etc: Mainly focused on RF Switches and couplers.
· Running simulations using design tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, SPICE, etc.
· Tuning RF front-end modules in the lab
· Troubleshooting and resolving design or technical issues
· Collaborating with other engineers and technicians
· Evaluating RF parameters like IL, Isolation, Harmonics, IMDs/IP3, Pmax, etc
· Validating performance across supply, temperature, and frequency against the device model
· Creating probe spec docuemtns to improve the product screening and compliance matrices against spec, plotting results, and presenting a results summary

Required Experience and Skills

· Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering (or related) MS or PhD program
· Commitment to work onsite for 6 months (January - June 2027)
· Strong desire to learn, grow, and make an impact
· Strong career interest in RF/microwave engineering and RFIC design
· Willing to share knowledge and collaborate with others
· Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Desired Experience and Skills

· Simulation Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, ADS, SPICE is highly preferred
· Layout Experience with Cadence Virtuoso is highly preferred
· EM Simulation Experience with EMX or HFSS is highly preferred
· Hands-on experience in the lab using a network analyzer and other RF instruments is highly preferred

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
