Energy / Project Finance Associate Attorney (Junior-Level)
Locations: Los Angeles, CA | New York, NY
Salary: Competitive based on class year (approximately $235,000–$390,000+), plus discretionary bonus

Direct Counsel is seeking a Junior Energy / Project Finance Associate to join a leading Am Law firm's nationally recognized Renewable Energy Project Finance practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney with 2+ years of general corporate experience who is interested in building a career in renewable energy and project finance.

The ideal candidate will work on sophisticated financing transactions involving wind, solar, and battery storage projects while gaining hands-on experience with project finance documentation and renewable energy development.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with renewable energy financing transactions involving:
    • Wind projects
    • Solar projects
    • Battery storage projects
  • Draft financial, corporate, and transaction-related documents and exhibits.
  • Support construction financing, term loan financing, and back-leverage financing transactions.
  • Review project documentation and assist with legal due diligence related to the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with partners, lenders, and transaction teams throughout all phases of project finance transactions.
  • Assist in coordinating transaction closings and preparing financing documentation.
  • Gain exposure to sophisticated project finance structures and renewable energy transactions representing leading financial institutions.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission in California or New York, depending on office preference.
  • 2+ years of general corporate or transactional experience, preferably at a law firm.
  • Interest in project finance, renewable energy, infrastructure, or finance transactions.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
