We are delighted to open a new opportunity within the company for a Renewable Energy Systems Technician. The position is based in Richmond, California and will require frequent travel as needed for site commissioning, product testing and support.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Renewable Energy System Technician located in Richmond, CA with some flexibility to work from home as projects permit. The Renewable Energy Support Technician will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including working on electrical engineering systems, product research and development (R&D) assistance, prototype assembly, testing of batteries, data analysis and some light warehouse tasks.

This position may involve periods of travel, with up to 33% travel during certain months to support with onsite system commissions but usually about 10% travel outside of peak season.


This role requires a combination of excellent technical documentation, problem solving, project management, communication and customer service skills.

Must have Qualifications.

  • Electrical Engineering skills
  • Electrical design, prototype assembly, equipment testing and data analysis skills
  • Experience in IT networking: troubleshooting network problems and IP address auditing
  • Comfortable working with electrical maintenance hand tools and devices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work individually with minimal supervision, showing a high level of accountability
  • Strong interests in technology, renewable energy, and or energy storage
  • Flexibility in managing a variety of warehouse tasks (handle small shipping and receiving of parts, including dealing with packing slips, etc.)

Other Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical design codes (UL 508A, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, ANSI, NESC standards)
  • Knowledge and application of basic CAD development and creation of package drawings for electrical projects
  • Ability to review schematics, specifications, and drawings for accuracy and functionality.
  • Working knowledge of Modbus and CAN bus communication systems
  • Hands-on experience working with solar PV, energy storage, power electronics and/or electrical installations and strong understanding of low voltage, AC/DC systems, and split-phase and three-phase electrical power
  • Experience working with Li-Ion battery packs or similar power electronics systems is a plus
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Experience working in Research and Development (R&D) environment
