Summary
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

  • You will provide first line supervision for nuclear engineers and technicians assigned to the branch.
  • You will maintain technical authority and responsibility for the engineering work of the branch.
  • You will review and approve detailed written technical direction to accomplish nuclear work from cradle to grave.
  • You will evaluate the qualification, knowledge, skills and abilities of branch employees to ensure continuous learning and development.
  • You will perform and assure branch self-assessments to track branch metrics relating to quality, timeliness, areas of continuous improvement needed.
  • You will ensure safety and security processes for the branch and demonstrate high standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
  • You will engage with other areas in the Command to coordinate and support critical nuclear operation trainings and provide supervisory functions for these trainings.

  • Some work is accomplished on naval vessels, dry docks, or facilities and may require climbing ladders, stairs, long periods of standing, stooping, and crouching.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer providing leadership and technical direction for nuclear engineering projects in support of the repair, maintenance, overhaul, or testing, of nuclear-powered ships or submarines.

Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
