Job description

This position is located at Marion County Coal Resources in Metz, WV. We are seeking to recruit entry-level mining mechanics to participate in a maintenance training program in an effort to develop future mine mechanics. Additional details of the program will be explained if candidate is selected for a formal interview.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • The training program will be a “hands on” program with minimal classroom time.
  • Ability to learn, work with, and interact with fellow employees in a friendly and safe work environment
  • Performing tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Working safely in all areas

Experience

  • 80-hour WV underground “red had” certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experienced certification is a plus but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completed courses of Vo-Tech study in electrical, mechanical, welding, and mining programs is preferred but not required.
  • Field experience as an electrician, welder, auto mechanic, or similar career is preferred but not required.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Electrical, mechanical, welding and mining programs completed at vocational, preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Compliance with company policies, procedures and safety standards
  • MSHA Certification (training available if needed)
  • Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test, company physical and background check
  • Must be able to successfully complete industry approved training courses
  • Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship

JOB SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed or as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule on a 24/7 basis (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)
  • Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
  • Ability to push/pull as needed
  • Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
  • Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere when needed
  • Ability to work underground and on surface as needed
