Job description

Scope of Work

Write promotional and donor communications copy for Truth For Life. Copywriting entails a comprehensive understanding of Truth For Life's brand and the ability to write creatively, succinctly, and compellingly in the voice of the ministry. The Communications Contract Writer will write all copy used for monthly direct mail, monthly blogs, the monthly Station Manager mailing, outbound emails, website and app copy, and the Monthly Marketing Notes used for program scripting. All written communications should be engaging, informative, reflect a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, and, when intended, compel readers to respond to an offer.

Payment for work will be invoiced no later the 10th of the following month and be itemized on the invoice. 

Accountabilities

Book Blogs

Read/review the two books offered each month by Truth For Life.

a. Write a blog post summarizing and promoting each book (two blogs each month)

b. Write direct mail copy promoting each of the two books for use in Truth For Life's monthly mailing

c. Write online store copy descriptions for the monthly books

Donor Communications Copy 

Draft copy as requested to communicate with donors either via direct mail or through outbound email as assigned. (Typically needed a few times a year, outside of year-end).

Promotional Outbound Email Copy 

Write copy for all outbound emails, including the monthly Truthpartner resource email, Truthpartner acquisition emails, welcome series emails, and other outbound communications throughout the year.

Year End Giving Campaign

Write copy to encourage donors to support Truth For Life by giving generously at year end.

Use talking points created collaboratively with the TFL team within the framework of the year-end campaign created by TFL.

Radio Stations

Summarize the programs and promotions at Truth For Life each month in a package sent to radio station managers. This includes talking points, content descriptions, and social media posts.

Write two audio promos each month that promote the book offers.

Monthly Marketing Notes

Prepare monthly marketing notes used for program scriptwriting. The marketing notes include talking points to be incorporated into the scripts read by the Truth For Life program announcer.

Name Acquisition Campaigns 

Write copy for outbound emails, landing pages, on-air talking points, program scripting and direct mail promoting several name acquisition campaigns each year.

Brand 

Write in a voice and length appropriate for the delivery channel and audience. Use language and style that follows the Truth For Life brand and replicates the Truth For Life voice.

Other responsibilities

Have a specific weekly time available for consultation, reviews, and communication.

Work closely with the Communications editor to ensure that all written work is grammatically, theologically, and structurally correct.

Outcomes

Capture the Truth For Life voice, tone, and personality through the written word.

Work independently to write high-quality, creative, compelling copy on schedule.

Coordinate with the Communications creative team for initial direction as needed and work in a team environment, being open to team input on written content improvement and changes.

Write copy that adds value to listeners, followers, subscribers, and donors.

Participate as a member of the team and make recommendations for continual improvement. 

Demonstrate excellent written communication skills.

Demonstrate a meticulous use of accurate grammar, sentence structure, and use of a sizeable vocabulary.
