Job description


Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the following under moderate supervision:
Project Management
• Ensures all assigned projects are completed in alignment with project requirements under moderate supervision.
• May lead Continuous Improvement initiatives of moderate complexity or a portion of technically complex projects with moderate support from supervisor.
• Develops and maintains project plans, including key phases, timelines, updates, and deliverables.
• Partners with cross-functional team members to execute key deliverables in accordance with established project timelines.
• Leads development and identification of appropriate studies using process and manufacturing knowledge to ensure technology robustness and formula reliability for production, with moderate guidance from supervisor.
• Collaborates frequently with Manufacturing, Quality, PTS, Process Systems, Technical Labs, and other support groups.
Technical and Professional Knowledge
• Develops and applies expertise in paint formulation, paint processing, testing, and data analysis to ensure products meet performance requirements for end customer and manufacturing.
• Develops and demonstrates broad awareness of business priorities and understands the impact of technical decisions on business outcomes.
• Designs and executes experiments using appropriate experimental design principles.
• Gathers data from appropriate data sources, analyzes data, draws data-driven conclusions, demonstrates critical thinking, and identifies anomalies.
• Conducts background research on technical challenges, evaluations, and potential risks to develop effective solutions with guidance from supervisor.
• Provides engineering support throughout the product development process, including DOE design, failure mode analysis, data interpretation, formulation and processing recommendations, and test batch execution to ensure successful product launches.
• Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and supports validation and implementation of changes in collaboration with supervisor
Safety and Quality
• Ensures Safety, Housekeeping, and ISO practices are followed at all times.
• Maintains compliance with all required certifications and follows quality standards.
• Actively seeks to reduce risk through corrective action of unsafe practices.
• Documents and maintains an up-to-date project documentation, electronic lab notebook and project folder per ISO standards.
Communication
• Clear and concise written documentation and verbal presentation of information and the ability to adapt to various audiences.
• Accurate documentation of lab results and technical information.
• Communicates/interfaces with other departments, develops relationships & influences others with moderate support from supervisor.
• Communicates work progress, status, completion, issues and suggests solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• BS/BA in Engineering or Chemical Engineering
• Proficiency in fundamental mathematical concepts
• Working knowledge of basic statistical methods and data analysis techniques
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in coatings or processing related field experience
• Project leadership/management experience
• Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
• Design of Experiments, Minitab, Business Objects, DFSS, 6-Sigma Certification, Computational Fluid Dynamics
Travel Requirement: 20%
