Position Overview

The Engineer I - Civil is an entry-level position for professional engineering work, focused on developing foundational knowledge and skills. This individual performs assignments that apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria across a sequence of related tasks. They apply basic judgment in the application of established methods and in selecting among basic engineering alternatives, while building technical capability within the discipline.

The Engineer I - Civil reports to the Department Manager, and is expected to demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and continues to grow in both knowledge and practical application.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs defined portions of broader engineering assignments using established methods and guidance from experienced engineers
  • Performs standard computations and analysis
  • May participate in site visits or observe construction activities to support project understanding
  • Submits work to the Project Manager for QA/QC review and incorporates feedback as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam – or is in the process of obtaining
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Discipline)
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to engineering project work through internships, coursework, or field experience
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
