Job description

Performs supervisory work directing all public works labor activities of skilled/unskilled laborers and equipment operators engaged in road maintenance activities in an assigned Palm Beach County (PBC) road maintenance district. Assigns, coordinates, directs, and supervises assigned district operations personnel/equipment. Directs field operations; assigns work to crews; conducts on-site inspections; completes road maintenance reports; responds to complaints from citizens; resolves work problems in accordance with established policies and procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior and is reviewed through observations, conferences, and results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in road construction and maintenance, including one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience,
OR
• Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in road construction and maintenance, including one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
• Experience maintaining equipment or materials maintenance records,
• Experience inspecting roads, drainage structures, or ditches for maintenance needs,
• Experience resolving or responding to complaints from citizens,
• Experience reading or interpreting construction plans (must specify on application), and
• Knowledge of County roads, geographical area/road safety, and maintenance policies.
