Geosyntec is growing in Western Canada. We are seeking an experienced Early-Career Geochemist or Hydrogeochemist to join our Mining Practice in our Toronto, ON, or Vancouver, BC office. Our ideal candidate would have less than 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., MSc or PhD) and project-related experience.

  • Perform and review data and conduct analyses for complex, multi-discipline mining projects to include, but not limited to, water management and treatment, geochemical characterization and modelling, water quality assessments for all stages of mine development and operations;
  • Technical writing (reports, letter, memoranda, work plans, etc.) and complex data analysis will be a significant component of the overall duties
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
  • At times, job may also include fieldwork including travel to select project locations
  • Training: This position requires MSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical, leadership and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 15%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 15%

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, geoscience, or geoenvironmental engineering, or a similar field of study. (required)
  • Advanced degree in relevant geoscience or engineering discipline. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng) or qualified for professional registration in the future (preferred)

  • Up to 2 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education (advanced degree) and experience. (preferred) 
  • An understanding of mining operations and mine waste management, geoscience, biogeochemistry, water quality assessments, geochemical modelling. (preferred)
  • Strong technical background in engineering and environmental practices/services for mining facilities. (preferred)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams is an asset.
  • Ability to succeed in a consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
  • Current MSHA New Miner or Annual Refresher Training. (preferred)
  • Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership.
  • Valid Canadian driverโ€™s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntecโ€™s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $57,390 / Maximum Salary: $84,895 (Toronto, ON, Burnaby, BC)
