District Overview

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. They serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern.

This opportunity will support projects across the country in large cities and small towns. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date.

Responsibilities

New graduates may be required to perform a variety of engineering and construction tasks based on their assignment. The role of Field Coordinator is diversified and is mainly categorized in three main areas. 

  • Field Operations:Work closely with superintendent, interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft, prepare work plans and work packages, order and schedule material deliveries, ensure the quality of field operations 
  • Office Coordinator:Perform takeoffs from drawings, generating change, build schedule, track costs, provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations 
  • Estimating:Perform takeoffs, review and analyze data relative to the project, complete plans and specification reviews for projects, assist with the preparation of a bid 
Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of relevant industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor's or a college degree in civil engineering or similar
  • The candidate must have a strong work ethic
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and devote the necessary time to the work
  • Strong organization and time management
  • Strong interest in the construction industry
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Can effectively perform the assigned tasks in various work environments and on different terrains (including various weather conditions)
  • Ability to work outside on a rotation schedule, or to relocate
  • Have a valid driver's license 

Other Requirements:

  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
  • Openings are to fill both existing vacancies and newly created positions

Base Compensation: $79,040/yr - $87,360/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
