Job description

Overview

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Engineer (I/II)-Gas to join our team!

Vacancy will be filled at Engineer I-Gas or Engineer II-Gas level based on candidate experience.

The successful candidate reports through the Energy Distribution Engineering (EDE) department of Capital Programs and Engineering (CP&E). The team is responsible for the design, engineering, measurement, procedures, and  records management for the gas distribution and transmission systems. 

Engineer I-Gas 

Entry level engineer. Under close supervision, performs routine natural gas engineering assignments that include standards, procedures and metering requiring knowledge of basic engineering principles. Applies knowledge to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete project assignments.

Engineer II-Gas

Mid-level engineer or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs natural gas transmission design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May begin expanding knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Minimum Salary:  Engineer I-Gas $68,300 (Grade 8)/Engineer II-Gas $76,700 (Grade 9)

Responsibilities

Engineer I-Gas 

  • Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures.
  • Develops an understanding and complies with the Citizens Quality Program. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope. Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Shares information with others as requested. Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
  • Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Engineer II-Gas

  • Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures.
  • Begins to apply knowledge and complies with Citizens Quality Program relative to assigned tasks. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Prepares moderately complex engineering deliverables. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. May provide direction and guidance to others.
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates with other internal/external team members on less complex projects. Initiates contact with other disciplines as needed to identify and coordinate details of the work.
  • Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and interaction and communication with project leadership. Applies understanding of client interests and drivers to performance of the work under his/her responsibility. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Engineer I-Gas 

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country.
  • Valid driver's license in the United States. State of Indiana driver's license required within 30 days of first day of employment.
  • Must have a safe driving record including no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, suspensions/revocations, or DUI/DWI convictions within the last three years.
  • Must pass and participate in the random Drug & Alcohol program in accordance with PipelineHazardous Material Safety Administrative 192 requirements.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of engineering training program.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design and applicable guides and standards related to assigned natural gas 49 CFR 192. Basic knowledge of Citizens Quality Program, construction and constructability practices, and principles.
  • General understanding and ability to work with computer software in a Windows environment as well as design software including Autodesk products and Esri Geographic Information System. Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting. Ability to work in office and field environment. A basic understanding of utility systems.

Engineer II-Gas

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognizedaccredited program in their home country.
  • 2 years of related experience or 1 year of Citizens experience.
  • Valid driver's license in the United States. State of Indiana driver's license required within 30 days of first day of employment.
  • Must have a safe driving record including no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, suspensions/revocations, or DUI/DWI convictions within the last three years.
  • Must pass and participate in the random Drug & Alcohol program in accordance with PipelineHazardous Material Safety Administrative 192 requirements.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
