Job description

Title:

Structural Integrity Engineer

KBR Consulting provides specialized consulting engineering services across the energy industry, including the offshore oil and gas industry. We are a client focused organization that prides itself on developing innovative and practical solutions for our clients, utilizing the broad experience and technical capability of the entire KBR organization.

KBR is looking for an entry level structural integrity engineer, to help support our Advisory Consulting team. This is an excellent opportunity to learn offshore integrity management with regards to analytical work and the practical application.

As part of the team, the engineer will work side-by-side with senior engineering staff conducting calculations and analysis. The engineer will also be expected to interface with clients during projects as well as assist in the development of written engineering reports. Some travel (domestic and international) to the offshore facilities may be required for this position.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing inspection plans for offshore fixed and floating and pipeline systems Innovative ways to deliver to client's needs and expectations.

  • Conducting structural FEA analysis and assessment for offshore fixed, floating and subsea structures and develop associated drawings

  • Developing repair designs (above water and underwater repairs) as well as supporting these efforts, as required.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical or ocean engineering.

  • General knowledge of structures, solid mechanics and structural analysis applications.

  • Strong computer skills that include:

    • knowledge and experience with Excel, Word and Power Point; AI familiarity is a plus

  • Good communication skills that include:

    • ability to develop written reports and power point presentations.

    • ability to present calculation and analysis results orally.

  • Academic and work experiences that indicate:

    • ability to take on and solve a wide variety of challenging engineering problems.

    • good interpersonal skills (i.e., able to work as member of a close-knit engineering team).

Preferred Education & Skills:

  • Engineering work experience

  • Knowledge on structural analysis

  • Knowledge of offshore Oil and Gas

  • Knowledge on risk assessment techniques

  • Knowledge on structural reliability techniques

  • Any experience with engineering software packages such as AUTOCAD, MathCAD, Matlab and/or finite element structural packages (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, SESAM, SACS, STAAD, etc.).
