Position Overview

Entry-level BI Developer who brings intellectual curiosity and a passion for solving problems with data. The Junior BI Developer will help analyze, transform, and interpret data, and will build and maintain reports, visualizations, and dashboards across multiple BI platforms under the guidance of senior team members. This role participates in the full dashboard lifecycle: assisting with requirements gathering and stakeholder meetings, building assigned data model components and dashboards, and applying tuning and enhancements as directed.  This position requires the individual to manage assigned tasks against agreed timelines, communicate progress clearly, and escalate obstacles early. A senior developer or the manager reviews work, with increasing independence expected as skills develop. Our projects are highly fluid and require self-motivated individuals because the work environment is remote.

Essential Job Functions
  • Develop: Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and datasets in Power BI, Databricks, and Qlik Sense under senior guidance. Write and troubleshoot SQL queries for standard and ad hoc reporting. Assist cross-functional teams and support ETL interfaces as needed. Connect to established data sources and help create dataflows, datasets, and mashups
  • Defining Business Requirements: Participate in requirements discussions with stakeholders and data consumers, document what is requested, and confirm understanding with a senior developer. Communicate progress against delivery timelines and review existing reports so that data already presented is not duplicated
  • Testing and Implementation: Perform functional testing of assigned BI solutions and validate results against source data. Build ad hoc business reporting using tools including SQL and Power Query. Help maintain BI reporting integrity by identifying and reporting discrepancies promptly
  • Support and Training: Use written and verbal skills to answer end-user questions and demonstrate BI tools to data consumers. Triage routine connection errors, access requests, and row-level security requests, escalating complex issues to senior team members
Other Job Functions
  • Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on call when required.
Basic Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of experience in BI development, data analytics, or a related technical role, including internships, coursework, or personal projects
  • Exposure to building reports or dashboards in Power BI, Databricks, or Qlik, with a willingness to learn dataset/dataflow and Qlik data model optimization
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, filters, and aggregations; SSIS is a plus
  • Self-starter who can read technical documentation, follow written standards, and ask questions when direction is unclear
  • Passion for data with an eagerness to learn and deliver value to customers
  • Familiarity with Excel, Power Query, or other data preparation tools preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in related field preferred
  • Prior Healthcare experience a plus
