Position Summary:
The Laboratory Engineering Technician in Training is an entrylevel role responsible for supporting laboratory operations and product testing under direct supervision. This position is designed to develop technical skills, ensure adherence to laboratory standards, and provide handson experience with equipment, procedures, and documentation practices. The individual in this role will receive structured training and mentorship to progress toward technician 1 competency.

  • Assist with daily laboratory tasks, including equipment setup, sample preparation, and routine testing.
  • Learn and follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and quality system requirements.
  • Support staff in completing testing, collecting data, and preparing documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
  • Participate in required training programs to build technical proficiency.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment issues to senior staff.

Physical Requirements

Laboratory Testing & Operations

  • Prepare test materials and samples in accordance with project specifications.
  • Operate laboratory instruments and tools after completing required training.
  • Monitor test activities and accurately record observations and results.

Data Management & Documentation

  • Collect, log, and maintain test data following Terracon quality guidelines.
  • Support preparation of test reports, summaries, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment calibration, maintenance, and usage logs.

Equipment & Facility Support

  • Perform routine cleaning, calibration checks, and basic maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Identify and promptly report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or process deviations.
  • Assist with inventory control and proper storage of laboratory supplies, chemicals

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all laboratory safety rules, PPE requirements, and hazardcontrol procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and compliance audits as required.
  • Ensure all activities align with company policies, regulatory standards, and environmental guidelines.
