Project Engineer - SpX Engineering

INNOVATE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES! At Milwaukee Tool, our People and our Culture are the foundation of how we move fast, solve hard problems, and deliver best-in-class execution for our customers. The SpX Engineering team supports Special Execution programs that bring Milwaukee products to life through unique merchandising, promotional, and customer-specific solutions. This role is a strong starting point for someone looking to learn Milwaukee products, understand how the business operates end-to-end, and build influence across Engineering, Operations, Channel, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and external partners.

Behind our doors, you'll be empowered to own work, drive clarity, and help solve execution challenges that directly impact store readiness, production planning, customer commitments, and internal operating efficiency. SpX work is fast-paced, highly cross-functional, and highly visible-making it a great place to build product knowledge, business acumen, and project leadership skills early in your career.

Year after year, Milwaukee Tool continues to grow by challenging what is possible and improving how we execute for our users, customers, and teams. The SpX team plays an important role in that growth by helping turn complex merchandising needs into executable solutions.

As a Project Engineer on the SpX team, you will support the planning, design, item structure, work definition, documentation, and execution readiness required to deliver Special Execution programs. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the right items, materials, costs, timelines, and build requirements are aligned before production-while identifying risks early and helping drive decisions to keep projects moving.

Milwaukee Electric Tool offers benefits on your first day of work, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), and an excellent working environment with an on-site cafeteria and state-of-the-art fitness facility.

You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Support small to medium SpX projects from intake through execution readiness, helping ensure timelines, risks, ownership, and deliverables are clearly defined.
  • Work cross-functionally with Packaging Engineering, Channel, Customer Supply Chain, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Master Scheduling, Master Data, Finance, Quality, Operations, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with SpX kit setup, including item structures, work definitions, packaging inputs, production documentation, and execution details needed to support planning and manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, trackers, and action logs to support cost, schedule, quality, and execution targets.
  • Monitor project progress, communicate status clearly, and escalate risks early with context, options, and recommended next steps.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams and suppliers to validate build requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support production readiness.
  • Review data, dashboards, intake requests, and project inputs to identify changes that could impact item setup, production timing, material availability, or customer commitments.
  • Drive clarity when direction is unclear by asking the right questions, aligning stakeholders, and documenting decisions.
    • Project setup accuracy and execution readiness
    • Key project inputs, assumptions, and requirements
    • Product, customer, or business-driven changes
    • Schedule, readiness, and material-related risks
    • Cost, status, and execution impacts
    • Communication gaps, process issues, and improvement opportunities
    • Support continuous improvement efforts that improve visibility, reduce rework, and help the team scale.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical field is required.
  • Entry-level to early-career engineering experience preferred; internal candidates with strong execution discipline, business curiosity, and demonstrated ownership are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities and shifting inputs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several active projects, details, and follow-ups at the same time.
  • Comfort working across teams, asking questions, influencing without direct authority, and driving alignment when responsibilities are shared across functions.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide concise updates, document decisions, and escalate issues with clear recommendations.
  • Self-starter mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn Milwaukee products, systems, and operating processes.
  • Ability to identify potential risks, resource constraints, or execution gaps before they become late-stage issues.
  • Foundational understanding of manufacturing, packaging, supply chain, item setup, or project management processes is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle, Power BI, SharePoint, Excel, CAD, or similar systems is a plus but not required.

We provide these great perks and benefits:

  • Robust health, dental and vision insurance plans.
  • Generous 401 (K) savings plan.
  • Education assistance.
  • On-site wellness, fitness center, food, and coffee service. And many more, check out our benefits site HERE.
