Job description

Location: Warren, OH
Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc. has an immediate opportunity for a Process Control Engineer at our Warren, OH, location. This role is critical to maintaining and improving the performance and reliability of our process control systems. The engineer will work with a wide range of industrial automation technologies, computer systems, and instrumentation to support steel manufacturing operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • System Support bymaintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of process control systems, including hardware, software, and interfaces.
  • Modify systems to accommodate new inputs or implement ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Address issues that may impact production or system reliability.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading SQL Server databases
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading virtual server environments (Vcenter, Hyper-V, etc.)
  • Oversee real-time computer control and monitoring of coke plant processes.
  • Maintain and upgrade computer hardware and software, including modernization of existing systems.
  • Administer operating systems such as Windows, Apple iOS, and Cisco.
  • Work with networking technologies, including Cisco and Palo Alto, high-speed data transmission, and specialty computer interfaces.
  • Participate in project work, including planning, engineering design, hardware configuration, software development, testing, and system start-up.
  • Stay informed of quality and reliability issues and work with vendors to address product and performance concerns.
  • Remain current with advancements in industrial control technologies.
  • Configure HMI screens using FactoryTalk View Site Edition and Machine Edition.
  • Perform Data Analysis on production data using Power BI.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience and/or certification (CCNA, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Windows, Android, and iOS operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of computer networking and routing.
  • Knowledge of process control systems, including SCADA, HMI, PLCs, drives, PID loop control, and control communication strategies.
  • Manufacturing or steel industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of engineering experience in an industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, Java, FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, modify, and troubleshoot complex control logic and advanced control applications.
  • Experience with front-end and back-end web development (html, CSS, JavaScript and SQL Server databases).
