Job description

We are seeking an experienced Renewable Land Agent / Landman to lead land outreach, community relations, and site control acquisition for utility-scale wind assets and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role focuses on managing designated project areas across target Areas of Interest (AOIs) in Northwest Minnesota and the Eastern Dakotas to support upcoming phases of project development.
Responsibilities
  • Landowner Outreach & Optioning: Initiate contact, build local relationships, and negotiate options to lease, long-term lease agreements, and easements with private landowners.
  • Site Control Strategy: Execute acquisition strategies to successfully assemble the contiguous acreage footprints required for utility-scale wind assets.
  • Title & Risk Mitigation: Perform surface title reviews, analyze tract maps, identify encumbrances, and secure mineral non-development or accommodation waivers to protect the project layout.
  • Community & Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary face of the project in the field, navigating local community dynamics, agricultural concerns, and public permitting requirements.

Requirements
  • Experience: Field landman experience with a documented track record in utility-scale wind or solar land acquisition.
  • Regional Expertise: Strong working knowledge of real estate, agricultural land dynamics, and tract mapping in Minnesota and/or the Dakotas.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in option and lease negotiation, contract structuring, title curative work, and reviewing GIS/mapping data.
  • Logistics: Field-based, on-site position based out of Fargo, ND and the surrounding areas, requiring daily regional travel to target project locations. Reliable transportation suitable for field travel is required.
