As an Actuarial Analyst II, you will support vendor invoice reconciliations and/or creation, financial reporting, communication with stakeholders, and assisting with running ROI simulation when contracting a vendor. Activities will also include data extraction, analytical model maintenance, provider impact studies and other statistical analyses, as well as production of various reports and technical support to assist in the achievement of company financial and membership goals.
This is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.
What you'll do:
  • Independently provide data and perform actuarial calculations related to product development, benefits, provider reimbursement, stop loss, health management, disease management, pharmacy programs, premium rates, reserves, and administrative costs.
  • Monitor data from internal departments, review it for content and accuracy, and identify associated problems.
  • Produce various analytical reports that monitor utilization and cost trends, revenue, claims liability, membership, administrative costs, and provider reimbursement and performance as requested by both internal and external customers.
  • Develop and maintain computer programs to support various analyses, processes, and reports. Consider reproducibility and potential improvements.
  • Consult with internal and external customers to assess scope and complexity of projects. Complete projects accurately and efficiently, within preset timelines, and regularly report status to supervisor and outcomes to customer.
  • Prepare written documentation on all projects to provide a peer review trail and ensure continuity and integrity of position responsibilities. This includes organizing the project work plan, notes, output, proof of review, and other documentation.
  • Present findings as needed to multiple levels of internal and client leadership.
  • May assist in the training of entry level analysts.

What you'll bring:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field, or (4) years of work experience.
  • (2) years of actuarial analysis experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools.
  • Knowledge of Python or another computer language.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.
  • Experience in health insurance and/or an actuarial department.
  • Proficient in Tableau and visual storytelling.
  • Experienced in automation of codes and procedures.
  • Participant in an actuarial student program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong project management to include time management and multi-tasking.
  • Proficiency in a computer programming language and aptitude to learn from others. Proficient with standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills - can explain trends in data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Must be able to conduct self and peer-reviews to ensure accuracy of work products.
  • Ability to take direction well.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced working environment.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Plus Salary Range:
$84,200.00 - $143,100.00
*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
