Are you a skilled welder looking for a hands-on role in fabrication and machining? As a Shop Welder, you’ll use your expertise in various welding techniques to fabricate and assemble metal components with precision, following blueprints, work orders, and instructions. This position requires a strong understanding of gas metal welding methods and the ability to work with a variety of materials, including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized metals. You’ll utilize welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW, SAW, and SMAW to complete high-quality projects that meet industry standards. With tiered levels based on certifications and the complexity of assignments, this role offers opportunities for skill development, career growth, and hands-on experience in a fast-paced fabrication environment. If you’re detail-oriented, passionate about welding, and ready to take on new challenges, we’d love to have you on our team!

There are three levels of Shop Welders:

  • Shop Welder I – Entry Level – Not required to be AWS or ASME certified but must become certified within 60 days
  • Shop Welder II – Has obtained at least 3 AWS and/or ASME certifications
  • Shop Welder III – Has obtained a combination of at least 6 AWS and/or ASME certifications in both GMAW and GTAW; a minimum of 2 of those 6 certifications must be in either GMAW or GTAW

This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial fabrication and must be proficient with the products and services offered by the company and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

Four 10-hour days a week — that's it. Day shift earns a 4-day weekend every other week. Night shift (Mon–Thu, 4PM–2AM) means a 3-day weekend every week, plus $2/hr shift differential and a paid 30-minute lunch. Overtime on your off days is available, never mandatory. We're looking for people willing to run either shift when needed — tell us your preference and we'll take it seriously. 


  • Safely and efficiently operate assigned equipment
  • Read, understand, and accurately execute work orders and quality assurance (QA) standards per job requirements
  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using welding equipment
  • Perform structural welding using a variety of procedures, such as the groove weld, fillet weld complete joint penetration, and partial joint penetration.
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Perform quality checks during production to ensure parts/pieces meet tolerance requirements

Working Conditions

  • Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
  • Walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Perform duties indoors in a shop setting with occasional work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

  • 2+ years of welding and/or fabrication experience in an Industrial Metal Shop preferred
  • Must successfully complete a weld test required prior to employment
  • Ability to weld in either GMAW or GTAW, both preferred
  • Proficient in the use of manual plasma cutter and oxyfuel cutting torch
  • Possess knowledge of metal plate types (steel, aluminum, stainless, galvanized, etc.) sizes, and shapes (beams, channels, angles, pipe, flat bar, etc.) preferred
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in an industrial shop setting
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures, squares, protractors, compasses, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
