Position Description
The Pipe / Tubing Welder must work safely and productively on various sized Industrial project sites. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the essential duties of the Pipe / Tubing Welder position. All employees are expected to communicate, build relationships with other team members and use good judgment at all times. The Pipe / Tubing Welder is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path, while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assist with development and implementation of pre-task safety plans
• Determine appropriate welding equipment
• Identify & correct safety hazards
• Inspect welds for flaws
• Operate angle grinder to prepare metal for welding
• Perform welding of various metal components
Working Conditions
  • Outdoors with various weather conditions - frequently
  • Loud noise - frequently
  • Lifting, carrying or moving up to 90 pounds
  • Wearing all PPE when on any project site (e.g., Steel toed boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, etc.)
  • Traveling/out of town - frequently
  • 40 to 55-hour work week - frequently

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED - preferred
  • Apprenticeship - preferred
  • Five years welding experience - required
  • Experience with rigging is helpful.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Basic level communication (Reading, writing & comprehending technical documents, safety regulations, responding to questions from managers / coworkers, checklists, etc.)
  • Safety awareness (Ability to recognize and correct safety hazards)
  • Detail Orientation (Ability to pay attention to details in order to follow instructions and execute work in accordance to specifications and safety / quality standards)
  • Basic level mathematics (Order of operations using fractions and decimals)
  • Basic level reasoning (Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal or written instructions while understanding how to problem solve and complete task(s) when dealing with one variable)

DESIRED
  • Intermediate level mathematics (2D / 3D geometry, percentages, ratios, basic trigonometry)
  • Entry level planning / organizing (Ability to plan a daily work schedule and communicate the daily objectives to coworkers while organizing tasks by priority to meet deadlines)
