Job description

A Brief Overview
This position serves as an entry level, registry eligible technologist in the non-invasive vascular laboratory with the possibility of traveling to vascular lab satellite offices. The Vascular Specialist I will be trained and must be willing to learn all aspects of vascular lab testing, have basic knowledge of pathology/ultrasound and be able to meet all IAC standards for CMEs, and assist in department QA process. The Vascular Specialist I will be responsible for achieving their RVT/VT within one year of hire.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications:
Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required) and
  • Graduate of an accredited vascular technology program (Required) or
  • Graduate of an accredited sonography program with cross-training in vascular technology (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of vascular anatomy (Required proficiency)
  • Basic knowledge of the vascular pathology (Required proficiency)
  • Basic knowledge of ultrasound equipment (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to learn to use all types of vascular ultrasound equipment; basic computer skills; good communication skills (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) (Required within 1 Year) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
