This is an entry level position. The employee who occupies this position is responsible for any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.

  • The Feeder/Packer is responsible for feeding or packing cartons, palletizing cases and following directives of the Leadership and do so in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for feeding handfuls of cartons and inspecting quality before placing stacks in the gluer feed.
  • Responsible for erecting corrugated cases, packing cartons, inspecting for quality and following specified packing instructions.
  • Responsible for palletizing cases to the specified work instructions and pallet diagrams.
  • Responsible to review and confirm incoming material matches all specification called out in the production order to include incoming batch tags, corrugated, pads, cello, label or any other special materials.
  • Responsible for reporting any discrepancies immediately to crew, department leadership or QC.
  • Responsible for operating electric Pallet Jacks safely to move WIP or finished pallets.
  • The Palletizer will need to lift and place cases on pallets keeping the palletizing loop clear.
  • Responsible to Re-stock materials for the following crews, which include but not limited to, making lids, corrugated stocked and also keeping the tables stocked up with tape.
  • Responsible to correctly tag out leftover material (corrugated/pads/cello) to be restocked in the warehouse.
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the area (remove stray cartons, sweep up, etc.) performed during make ready of following a production run.
  • The Feeder/Packer will help with troubleshooting when issues arise.
  • Support and Develop Lean initiatives (5s, TPM, Daily Management).
  • Performs other organizational duties as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is regularly exposed to dust, heat, cold, vibration, and potential work hazards.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Personal Protective Equipment is required.

We are an union environment, must be willing to work all shifts.

  • Knowledge-H.S. Education or equivalent, computer literate.
  • Skills-Mechanical, communication.
  • Abilities-Good attendance, guide teams/processes, ability to work alone.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) with little lower body movement throughout working shift for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Visual acuity at short distances.  Needed to detect variances in job numbers, register and bleeder marks.
  • Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.
  • Good eye/hand coordination to keep speed with the pace of the machine.
  • Able to lift 25-35 lb. boxes continuously and 50 lbs. occasionally to cover Palletizer position. Weights above this require team lifting.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching.
  • Fine hand manipulation.
  • Grasping and gripping.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities for all employees:

  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
