Job description

Three Notch'd Brewery is now hiring for a Packaging Technician. Located in downtown Charlottesville, we have a passion for serving Virginia's freshest beer, craft cocktails and spirits. This role is a great entry-level position for those interested in the craft beer industry. Individuals will perform packaging activities efficiently and safely, incorporating quality in every can and case within company specifications and schedules. Must be able to work any shift in a 24-hour period.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and have excellent communication/interpersonal skills.

• Building packs and trays of canned products in preparation for placing finished goods in them.

• Efficiently repackaging product from case to case as directed.

• Ability to operate electric and manual lifts and pallet jacks and move finished products & materials through the facility safely as directed.

• Identify immediate safety and equipment issues on canning line to cease production using emergency stop.

• Follow company policies & procedures, reflect organizational core values and strive to maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.

• Perform unloading of finished products from the packaging & canning lines.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Must have a flexible schedule and able to work days, nights and weekends.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous work experience with bottling or canning equipment.

• Previous work experience with filters, labelers, packers, sealers.

• Previous work experience with similar manufacturing equipment.

• Experience in operating warehouse equipment

• CIP experience

• Good mechanical skills and understanding of machinery

Work Environment:

• Ability to work in extreme cold, extreme heat, temperature changes.

• Industrial noises.

• Occasional exposure to wet conditions.

Equipment Used:

• PolyPro

• Pallet Jack, electric and manual

• Other canning equipment as needed

Travel Requirements:

Little or No Travel (<10%)

Lifting Requirements:

Ability to continually lift up to 25 pounds.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, kneel, crawl or bend, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.

High mental and visual attention required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product. AND/OR Extremely close visual attention such as making delicate adjustments to control high speed operations to exercise very precise muscular control.
