Job Title: Manual Pack Operator
Job Description
This role focuses on manually assembling and packing products on a high-speed final packaging line in a clean, state-of-the-art production facility. You will assemble boxes, pack brick bags and instructions, perform quality checks, and support line performance to ensure products meet strict quality and efficiency standards. The position involves repetitive, assembly-line work in close collaboration with teammates and requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule.
Responsibilities
- Manually assemble boxes and packaging components, including building the physical box and inserting brick bags, instructions, and other materials prior to shipment.
- Work on an assembly line in a shoulder-to-shoulder environment, performing repetitive tasks with a strong focus on speed, accuracy, and consistency.
- Maintain a fast work pace, often handling a box in and out of your hands in just a few seconds, and consistently meet standard hourly production results.
- Ensure you can make a box in less than 2 seconds to support the required line speed and production targets.
- Perform each position associated with the production line as assigned, including packing, material handling, end-of-line work, and palletizing finished boxes.
- Rotate responsibilities on a designated line, including approximately 4 hours of standing, 4 hours of sitting, and time working at the end of the line to palletize materials.
- Lift and load full boxes weighing up to 50 lbs onto pallets safely and efficiently.
- Keep production machines in good condition by supporting basic cleaning tasks and helping maintain a tidy, organized, and safe work area.
- Support changeovers, including assisting with line adjustments, basic machine cleaning, and preparation for new production runs.
- Perform quality inspections and quality checks on products and packaging to ensure they meet defined quality standards.
- Ensure that quality requirements are met by promptly reporting any issues, defects, or detected failures through the appropriate channels.
- Contribute to accurate production reporting for the assigned line, including performance metrics and line operation documentation.
- Complete line operation reporting tasks such as TPM, 5S activities, quality assessments, and line release audits as required.
- Help maintain a constant flow of the production line and avoid unplanned downtime by staying attentive, responsive, and engaged in the work.
- Collaborate closely with peers and maintain excellent communication to support smooth line operations and a positive team environment.
- Work in an environment where performance is consistently measured and monitored, and respond constructively to performance feedback.
- Follow all safety, cleanliness, and operational procedures, including adherence to production, quality, and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in training activities to learn and master the production processes, with the understanding that all new hires start at an entry-level position and progress over time.
- Support inventory-related tasks such as handling materials, loading, and contributing to warehouse inventory activities connected to the production line.
- Demonstrate reliable job tenure and consistent attendance to support building a stable, core production team.
Essential Skills
- 1โ2 years of experience in production or manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience performing assembly line or highly repetitive tasks.
- Experience in environments where performance and productivity are measured and tracked.
- Ability to stand and walk continuously for 8โ12 hour shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when loading full boxes onto pallets and lift up to approximately 33 lbs on a consistent basis.
- Ability to make a box in less than 2 seconds while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Capability to perform continuous grabbing and pinching motions away from the body, as well as frequent bending and squatting.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production line environment with minimal downtime.
- Experience with general production, assembly, or mechanical tasks in a manufacturing setting.
- Basic skills in packaging, packing orders, and working on a production line.
- Ability to perform quality inspections and follow defined quality standards.
- Experience with material handling, loading, and warehouse production activities.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized work area and follow 5S or similar housekeeping principles.
- Strong reliability and job stability, ideally with 1โ2 years of tenure in prior roles without unexplained large gaps in employment.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with packaging operations, labeling, and warehouse packing.
- Background in general labor roles that involve repetitive tasks and manual handling.
- Exposure to production reporting tools or methodologies such as TPM, 5S, quality assessments, or line release audits.
- Experience with inventory tasks, including warehouse inventory and loading activities.
- Mechanical aptitude or prior machine operator experience that can be developed further over time.
- Ability to adapt to a structured progression path, starting at entry level and learning specific production processes before advancing.
- Comfort working on a fixed line with limited movement, as opposed to roles that require constant walking around a warehouse.
- Willingness to work a 3-2-2-3 type rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts (for example, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.).
- Understanding of basic production quality concepts and the importance of reporting defects or issues promptly.
- Readiness to learn and operate within clearly defined performance measures and feedback models.
