Job Description

We are seeking an Instrument Operator to support surveying operations on utility and infrastructure projects. This position requires frequent travel and extended time working out of town. The ideal candidate will have experience operating Trimble survey equipment, assisting with utility locating, and working as part of a field crew under the direction of a Party Chief.
Responsibilities

  • Operate Trimble GPS and total stations to collect survey data on utility and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with locating and marking underground utilities using Radiodetection pipe locators.
  • Support the Party Chief with daily survey tasks and field operations.
  • Maintain and care for survey equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Record accurate field notes and assist with data collection.
  • Follow company safety procedures and project-specific requirements.
  • Work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Travel to project locations and work away from home for extended periods when required.
Requirements

  • 1–3 years of survey field experience preferred.
  • Experience with Trimble survey equipment (GPS and total stations).
  • Familiarity with Radiodetection pipe locators is a plus.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work out of town for extended periods.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
