Job description

Job title: Entry Level BICSI Installer / (INSTC)

Location: Houston, TX
Company: Facility Solutions Group (FSG)
Pay: $22-28/hour ($45,000-$58,000 annually)

Position Summary

Talent Corps is seeking an Entry Level BICSI Installer (INSTC) to join a leading technology contractor supporting commercial projects throughout the Houston market.

This position is responsible for assisting with and performing the installation, termination, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber-optic cabling systems in commercial, data center, and telecommunications environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, route, support, and organize structured cabling systems 
  • Install and terminate copper and fiber-optic cabling
  • Install J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, conduit and sleeves
  • Perform basic testing and troubleshooting of installed cabling
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and low-voltage construction drawings
  • Properly label and identify cables, ports, pathways and telecommunications equipment
  • Assist with rack, cabinet, patch panel and telecommunications room installations
  • Maintain accurate installation records and documentation 
  • Follow BICSI practices, project specifications, and applicable safety standards
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, customers, general contractors, etc

Required Qualifications

  • Current BICSI Installer certification/credential (INSTC)
  • Commercial structured cabling experience
  • Experience terminating copper and/or fiber optic cabling
  • Ability to identify common cabling components and hardware
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders and lifts
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous low-voltage, telecommunications, electrical, or structured cabling experience
  • Experience with cable certification/testing equipment
  • Experience working in commercial construction or data center
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Knowledge of ANSI/TIA standards and BICSI installation practices

Must-Haves

  • BICSI Installer certification (INSTC)
  • Commercial structured cabling experience
