Pharmacy Technician
This role supports a high-volume, automated pharmacy fulfillment center by accurately processing prescriptions, operating fulfillment machinery, and ensuring prescriptions are safely prepared and shipped to patients. You will enter and maintain patient and prescription data, resolve insurance and data entry issues, and collaborate closely with pharmacists and other team members to deliver timely and accurate medication orders while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
Receive, review, and process patient prescription requests using established prescription data entry procedures and guidelines.
Enter and maintain accurate patient demographics and prescription information in pharmacy processing systems.
Interpret medical abbreviations and SIG codes accurately when entering and verifying prescription data.
Troubleshoot missing, incomplete, or unclear prescription information and resolve data entryโrelated exceptions.
Process new patient registrations and enter refill orders for prescription fulfillment.
Resolve third-party insurance rejects by reviewing issues, gathering required information, making corrections, and resubmitting claims according to individual plan requirements.
Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients and physicians to clarify prescription information, address questions, and support order processing.
Escalate prescription-related questions and clinical issues to pharmacists for interpretation and resolution.
Operate automated pharmacy machinery to support prescription fulfillment, including sorting, counting, labeling, packaging, and shipping medications.
Sort medications and move inventory through various workflow stages with a strong focus on quality control and accuracy.
Count, fill, label, package, and prepare prescriptions for shipment in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA requirements and internal quality control standards to protect patient information and maintain regulatory compliance.
Provide assistance to pharmacists at the facility and at other locations as needed to support overall prescription fulfillment operations.
This is a Contract position based out of Bolingbrook, IL.
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Bolingbrook, IL.
