Job description

Job Summary:
Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for ingesting, creating, and maintaining GIS data, supporting customer processes, and developing web applications using ESRI Enterprise Portal and SQL databases.
Responsibilities:
• Implement, Innovate, and Own GIS Infrastructure.
• Configure and manage ESRI Enterprise GIS/Portal.
• Migrate legacy data to ESRI Enterprise GIS/Portal.
• Coordinate with IT and Security personnel.
• Support the customer with identifying, assessing, and implementing improvements to processes and technologies to deliver a better product.
• Support the customer with conducting performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
• Support the customer with reviewing the database design and integration of systems, making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
• Support the customer with understanding the linkages between multiple SQL databases used for different functions or users.
• Support the customer with data ingestion from existing databases and flat files into SQL Database.
• Support the customer with the setup of permissions at database, table and record level along with support from IT group.
• Identify and suggest methods to increase application throughput, robustness, and consistency in production operations.
• Work independently and as a team member with minimal guidance from management.
• Communicate issues to management and be the main point of contact for GIS development.
• Individual contributor that works under limited supervision.
• Determines approach to work, monitored / supervised based on key objective check-ins.
• Lead assignments for specific job function or projects.
• Lead entry level individual contributors to ensure the work completion as per set standards and procedures.
• Create custom GIS tools and automate processes and workflows to support data management, analysis, and production.
• Develop Web-Based Applications in an offline environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Must have 2-6 years of relevant experience with an Associates’ degree in Information Science, GIS, Computer Science, or related field with at least 2 years verifiable experience as a database administration professional (preferably in support of federal government programs). Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to coordinate with IT, Software, and Security professionals is critical.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Security+ certification.
• Experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, file databases, personal geodatabases
• Ability to solve problems with minimal support.
• Ability to import and convert multiple data formats.
• Use of PC software including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), and presentation applications (Microsoft PowerPoint) software.
• Must have or be able to obtain a TS security clearance, be able to take/pass a polygraph, and be able to maintain both for the tenure of this position.
• Position tenure ship is dependent on completing the full security clearance process successfully within 1-2 years of accepting position.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred:
• Experience with ESRI ArcMap, ArcPro and Portal, as well as web applications like MapsSDK for JavaScript and/or .NET.
• Experience with geospatial databases.
• Familiar with limitation of working on a closed network.
• Use of scripting languages, such as SQL, Python, JavaScript, and Visual Basic.
• Knowledge in the field of ocean engineering, hydrography, surveying.
• Experience using geospatial display and management software such as ESRI topology tools.
• A basic understanding of the concepts behind data management in a relational database.
• Experience with implementing geospatial meta-data standards, workflows, data-sharing protocols, and GIS best practices.
