Title: Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach
Description
Responsibilities include assisting the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in all facets of a competitive NCAA Division III women’s basketball program with a strong emphasis on player development, recruiting, scouting and film breakdown, social media and content creation, community engagement, and game-day administration. The assistant coach will help foster a positive, growth-oriented culture centered on hard work, accountability, leadership, academic success, and service to the campus and local community.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with practice planning and implementation, travel coordination, alumni and program engagement initiatives, team operations, fundraising activities, and supporting the overall vision and daily operations of the women’s basketball program. This position may also include additional departmental assignments as directed by the Director of Athletics.
Position responsibilities must be completed in accordance with the policies and regulations of the Department of Athletics, the College, the Empire 8 Conference, NCAA Division III, and all other applicable governing bodies.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in all facets of operating a successful and competitive NCAA Division III women’s basketball program.
  • Develop and implement individual and team player development plans that support student-athlete growth both on and off the court.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes who align with the academic standards, culture, and values of the College and women’s basketball program.
  • Assist with all recruiting operations including relationship building with prospects, families, coaches, and recruiting services; communication outreach; campus visits; and recruiting database management.
  • Coordinate and contribute to opponent scouting, film breakdown, statistical analysis, game preparation, and post-game evaluation.
  • Assist with practice planning, skill instruction, game strategy implementation, and player mentorship.
  • Manage and create engaging social media and digital content that positively promotes the women’s basketball program, student-athletes, and the College.
  • Organize and participate in community service initiatives, youth engagement opportunities, clinics, camps, and other program outreach activities.
  • Assist with game-day administration including equipment setup, film exchange, scouting materials, operational logistics, team travel, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Support a program culture built on hard work, accountability, leadership, personal growth, academic achievement, and community engagement.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress and overall well-being of student-athletes.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement efforts, and special events that support the women’s basketball program.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all NCAA, Empire 8, College, and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational regulation.
  • Participate in significant campus activities including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, Commencement Weekend and other institutional events.
  • Represent the College and Department of Athletics in a professional manner at all times both on and off campus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and/or Executive Director of Athletics.
Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, and previous coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level or equivalent competitive experience. 
Preferred qualifications include prior collegiate coaching experience, demonstrated recruiting experience, knowledge of scouting and film analysis software, and experience with social media management and content creation within athletics.
  • Strong understanding of basketball skill development, scouting, game preparation, and player evaluation.
  • Ability to teach and develop student-athletes in a positive, growth-oriented environment.
  • Experience with film editing, scouting software, and video breakdown platforms.
  • Knowledge of social media management, digital branding, and content creation strategies.
  • Strong recruiting, communication, and relationship-building skills with prospective student-athletes, families, coaches, and campus partners.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented athletic department and campus community.
  • Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and ability to serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
  • Understanding of and commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant technology platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced collegiate athletic environment.
  • A commitment to student-athlete development, leadership education, academic success, and community engagement is strongly valued.
Special Requirements:
  • Evening and weekend work, as well as travel, are required.

Salary Range: $27,000
