Engineering Technician

Summary:

Assist engineering personnel in planning, executing and analyzing production or design processes.

Level I: Entry-level position responsible for basic engineering support activities including data entry, basic document management and performing measurements, mechanical or electrical work or basic testing.

Level II: Responsible for more complex engineering support activities including planning, analysis and advanced document management. CAD experience may be required based on departmental assignment.

Level III: Responsible for complex engineering support activities including detailed analysis of complex data set, providing inputs to various engineering planning processes and assisting with troubleshooting of manufacturing processes. CAD experience may be required based on departmental assignment.

Level IV- Bachelor's Degree Required -In addition to the activities of Level II and III, advanced-level position responsible for supporting improvements in manufacturing and quality processes by employing advanced analytics, experiential knowledge and close collaboration with engineering personnel.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides engineering support for production and/or design processes.
  • Ensures, where applicable, that machine and quality technicians are provided with the physical resources (tool packages, quality plans, etc.) required to execute their job duties.
  • Executes, where applicable, functional test processes and collects/analyzes data as required.
  • Performs necessary data entry inputs as needed to support engineering tasks including Engineering Planning Reviews, Quality Plan Reviews, Inventory Management and ERP inputs.
  • Supports machine conversion processes through execution and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Supports engineering design processes, which may include documentation of engineering designs as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Familiar with AS9100 Quality Requirements. Knowledge of administrative procedures. Manages paper files and electronic records. Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of GD&T, good analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to interpret instructions both written and oral. Able to work in a team with co-workers to resolve work issues. Able to communicate effectively in English.

Education and Experience

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or relevant STEM field preferred as noted above. 2 year's experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to periodically walk to other areas of the plant; must have good eyesight and hand dexterity, and able to identify and distinguish colors. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment:

Within safety guidelines, there will be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
