Job Description
IMPORTANT NOTE TO CANDIDATES - The shift schedule for this opportunity is Thursday through Monday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Our Scarborough, ME laboratory is seeking an entry-level Microbiology Lab Technician to join theirteam! The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment.
Job Functions
  • After appropriate training independently prepare samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment
  • May assist with validation and MDL studies.
  • Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
  • Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma (Required)
  • Associate's Degree in a Biology or Microbiology or similar scientific discipline (Strongly preferred)
  • 1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Strongly preferred)
  • Advanced English language skills (Required)
  • Strong mathematical, reasoning, and computer skills (Required)
  • Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $20 - $22 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
