As a medical device sales representative, entry-level jobs focus on learning more about how to sell medical devices to a customer, usually under the supervision of senior sales staff. In this role, you may learn more about your company's operating territory, learn how to demonstrate the use of each product you sell, and practice giving presentations to doctors and other medical workers. You may also visit a hospital, follow up on leads, and otherwise help rep your company wherever needed. Many medical device sales representatives work in or near operating rooms and other surgical areas, both to sell products during procedures and provide expert guidance for their installation, modification, and configuration. As such, this job sometimes requires the ability to tolerate seeing blood and injuries.

Entry-level medical device sales representatives often face challenges such as building a strong client network, learning complex product details, and navigating hospital protocols. The first year can be demanding as you adapt to a fast-paced, target-driven environment and establish trust with healthcare professionals. Overcoming these challenges involves proactive learning, seeking mentorship from experienced colleagues, and developing strong communication and organizational skills. Regularly attending product trainings and staying up-to-date with industry trends also helps in gaining confidence and credibility with clients.
