Job description

MECA Therapies, LLC is looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our professional team.
MECA Therapies is the largest pediatric rehabilitation provider in the state of New Mexico. Our mission is to strive everyday towards ensuring that our families and their children have access to the highest quality of care in the communities we serve.
The Occupational Therapist provides Occupational Therapy services to include evaluation and treatment to individuals ages 3-21 based on diagnosed conditions. These services will be conducted within MECA Therapies Children's Outpatient Clinic.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed in this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
  • Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure from the NM Occupational Therapy Licensing Board

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of Occupational Therapy
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Windows
  • Proficient organizational and record keeping skills
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills
  • Ability to train clients, family members and professionals
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The OT will operate within Local, State and Federal Regulations as well as adhere to all MECA policies and procedures. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
  1. Administering standardized assessment tests within their professional scope of practice
  2. Developing appropriate and thorough recommendations
  3. Presenting diagnostic findings completely and accurately
  4. Writing evaluation reports with technical accuracy
  5. Seeking out appropriate information from medical and/or other resources as needed to implement treatment strategies
  6. Developing theoretically sound plans describing objectives and procedures for treatment
  7. Selecting appropriate stimulus materials and treatment modalities for age and ability of the person served
  8. Giving clear concise instructions in presenting materials and/or techniques in therapy
  9. Recording and tracking daily progress accurately
  10. Utilizing time in session efficiently to meet objectives
  11. Providing accurate and immediate feedback to the person served and/or family
  12. Planning for discharge of the person served.
  13. Participating in the interview process for prospective employees as deemed necessary.
  14. Maintaining a clean workspace on a daily basis. Surface areas of tables, instructional tools and other objects should be cleaned after each session.
  15. Mentoring students and entry level personnel as deemed necessary by the company.
  16. Mentoring therapists in regional clinics
  17. May be asked to participate in marketing and outreach events within the community promoting MECA Therapies and the Children's Outpatient Clinic

CASELOAD ASSIGNMENTS
The OT will be assigned a weekly caseload from the respective program directors for each program they serve
  1. OT's will be considered full time with 8 hours per day or the equivalent of 40 hours per work week equating to 40 visits per week or part time equivalent.
  2. Adjustments to hours are made in collaboration with the respective program director.
  3. Adjustments to client contact hours may be adjusted for individuals providing supervision for students or other therapists
  4. OT's may be asked to complete CMEs through the FIT program as caseloads permit.
  5. OT's must be IDA Certified.

PRODUCTIVITY
  1. Completing 1920 visits per year or part time equivalent

DOCUMENTATION
The OT will accurately collect data on persons served and will ensure that the information is accurate and filed in a timely manner by adhering to the following:
  1. Documenting therapy sessions and progress
  2. Children's Outpatient Clinic therapists are required to complete the SOAP notes within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment.
  3. Any therapist needing additional time beyond their regularly scheduled time must contact the Clinic Director for approval
  4. Responding and completing tasks/messages received via Central Reach the day they are received
  5. Completing progress notes and upload as needed in Central Reach by the designated dates.
  6. Completing clinic evaluations in the allotted time given within therapist's schedule. (typically, within the same day or within 24 hours) Any therapist needing additional time beyond their regularly scheduled time must contact the Clinic Director for approval.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING
The OT must comply with all mandatory trainings identified by their licensing board as well trainings mandated by their respective supervisor(s) and/or company by adhering to the following:
  1. Consulting and providing in-house trainings to other staff members
  2. Maintaining appropriate licensure through the NM licensing board
  3. Attending mandatory staff meetings and trainings

SUPERVISION
Certified OT's may be asked to provide supervision for COTA's, and / or Student Interns/Observers. Supervision will be provided according to the MECA OT supervision guide from the OT licensing board.

The OT will maintain quality services for the persons served by adhering to the following:
  1. Acknowledging and respecting the rights of persons served at all times
  2. Ensuring all therapy and related activities are ethical and in compliance with MECA policies and procedures
