Job Description Position Summary: Fraternity and Sorority Life at Stetson University is a wholistic Greek community which includes oversight of the Chapter House living. Being the Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Housing at Stetson University means that you are driven to create and lead a vibrant Greek community where the living environment facilitates the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. You are an engaging, inclusive, and creatively driven individual who is administratively adept with proven capability to balance multiple priorities including supervision, student support, facility management, and operational functions.
You value working in a campus environment that is relationship rich and values fraternities and sororities. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties will include, but not be limited to: Leadership Responsible for proactively maintaining a visible presence in the Chapter Houses and at large-scale Greek community events, which may occur during and after business hours. Provide leadership to the 13 on-campus fraternity and sorority chapter houses with approximately 174 residents including implementing effective management and administrative strategies in the day-to-day operation of the chapter houses.
Directly supervise, train, and evaluate approximately 12-13 student staff members (Chapter House Assistants) and co-supervise a Graduate Intern for Residential Facilities. Provide ongoing professional development and coaching to student staff through biweekly 1:1s and weekly staff meetings. Oversee training budget for Chapter House Assistants.
Student Care Management and Conduct Utilize a student wellbeing communication system for Chapter House Assistants to communicate students at risk to the AD and Director and provide intentional outreach to those students. Work in partnership with the Dean of Students Office to provide insight, direct student care and critical updates on students assigned to or referred to HattersCare, the university's behavioral intervention team. Communicate with HattersCare student load systematically, frequently, and intentionally through multiple methods, including but not limited to face-to-face meetings, college-supported technology solutions, e-mail, telephone, text messages, and social media.
Serve as a primary judicial hearing officer for the university and case manager for non-organizational conduct in the Chapter Houses. Link student development theory and practice in interpersonal connections with students, parents, colleagues, and other constituencies. Operations Support the management of occupancy through housing software.
Oversight of building operation administration such as health and safety inspections, fire drills, occupancy verifications, damage assessment and billing, safety, and education. Foster healthy communication during roommate conflicts through staff guided roommate mediations and if necessary, room changes within supervising area. Perform monthly building inspections and report back assessment of the physical condition/appearance of supervising residential area to appropriate partners.
Oversight of the management of chapter house facility concerns, follow-up including but not limited to work orders, laundry issues, security, and safety concerns. Develop positive working relationships with facilities and custodial personnel to facilitate overall functioning of the Chapter Houses. Crisis Response Manage and provide follow up and aftercare on documentations and referrals from incidents involving students living in chapter houses utilizing Maxient software.
Serve 3 - 4 weeks per semester in on call emergency response rotation for Campus Life and Student Success to ensure the safety and well-being of residential and commuter students. This essential job function requires the ability to climb stairs and provide in person support for incidents. Designated as essential personnel for the purposes of emergency management.
Additional Responsibilities Be present during formal recruitment processes and assist as needed. Other duties as assigned. Experience utilizing housing management system, Maxient, Canvas LMS, and/or Campus Labs - HattersConnect Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in an office environment. The position requires participation in a campus wide on-call crisis response capacity, with significant weekend, evening, and early morning time commitments. The position also maintains a high level of relationship building with students and staff by walking through all buildings on a regular basis as well as monitoring the physical condition of residential facilities.
May be required to maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds. Pay Grade: 5 Work authorization sponsorship may be available for this position. However, sponsorship is contingent upon the non-applicability of the visa petition fees outlined in the relevant Executive Order signed September 19, 2025.
Due to the recent federally-mandated increased financial expense, the university is not in a position to absorb this significantly increased cost of sponsorship for new H-1B petitions at this time.
