Job description

The Shipping and Receiving Associate I is responsible for managing the logistics of receiving, storing, moving, and shipping orders within the company. This entry-level position requires attention to detail and a strong commitment to customer service, ensuring that all shipping documentation is accurate and compliant while maintaining inventory records and resolving discrepancies.

Responsibilities
  • Complete shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Verify the accuracy of documentation and materials for inbound and outbound packages and LTL freight shipments.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, track, and reconcile incoming and outgoing materials.

  • Analyze and resolve problems related to inventory and/or documentation discrepancies.

  • Count and process incoming shipments, identifying shortages and working collaboratively with the lead, supervisor, and buyer to resolve issues.

  • Examine shipment contents and compare them with records such as manifests, invoices, or purchase orders to ensure accuracy.

  • Deliver orders to the appropriate department.

  • Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles manually or by using trucks, forklifts, or other equipment.

  • Assist in resolving shipping discrepancies or issues, working closely with vendors, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolutions.

  • Pack, seal, and label packages and pallets to prepare materials for shipment using hand tools, power tools, and label printers, while complying with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Count and process outgoing shipments, identifying quality and paperwork discrepancies, and work cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies.

  • Determine appropriate shipping methods and carriers based on the size, weight, and destination of packages.

  • Work towards gaining proficiency in handling hazardous materials, including knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., DOT, IATA).

  • Record shipment data, such as weight, freight charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or record-keeping purposes.

  • Utilize multiple transportation vendor systems, customer Advanced Shipment Notice systems, and the internal ERP system to process orders for receipt or shipment.

  • Display willingness to follow directions and be flexible when assigned varying jobs.

  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines, ensuring quality and safety by complying with all company policies and procedures.

  • Immediately report all suspicious and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.

  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent general education diploma (GED).

  • 1 year of experience in customer service.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.

  • Basic understanding of warehouse practices.

  • Ability to obtain forklift certification in a timely manner.

  • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize daily tasks according to importance.

  • Ability to perform duties from recall, written instructions, and visual aids.

  • Familiarity with measuring tools and interpreting visual aids.

  • Capable of performing basic math functions and metric conversions.

  • Ability to read and write in English.


Pay Details: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
