Job description

Position Summary:

The Math Intervention Teacher will provide academic support to at-risk youth, ages 10-14. The Teacher will collaborate with school personnel, family members, and other service providers to meet the academic needs of 5th-7th grade students.

Employment Term Limit:

(Academic School Year) August 13, 2025- May 29, 2026

Essential Job Functions:

  • Working alongside and under the direction of the Math Program Director and school administrative staff, the Ella Austin Math Intervention Staff will integrate the Intensive Math Intervention Initiative throughout the academic school year for the 5th - 7th grade classes from Monday - Friday (School Calendar Days)
  • Monthly planning/strategy sessions with school administrative staff, Campus Math Specialists, Ella Austin Math Director and all math staff to prepare and be able to provide intensified TEKS-based instructional delivery using required curriculum for building and enriching mathematical skills of 5th - 7th grade math students
  • With this intensified TEKS-based instructional delivery and curriculum, the 3-4 Ella Austin Staff will report to an assigned school campus and provide one-on-one and reduced instructional group size math sessions throughout the academic day under the guidance of the Math Program Director systematically increasing learning time. Student's STAAR Interim Assessments, District Formative Assessments, and Curriculum Unit Assessments will be recorded and monitored
  • Utilizing enhancing technologies such as IPads, computers, and smart boards increases math intervention efforts while exposing children to the essential digital and media tools necessary for their future advancement in the 21st century
  • Math Intervention Staff provide instruction and strategies outlined in the campus and district math curriculum
  • Participate in occasional events after school, on campus activities during and outside of school hours
  • Reach out to parents by phone or e-mail in ongoing family engagement
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Certifications/Licensures:

  • Teacher Certification

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience and Competencies:

  • Minimum of 12-months working with youth in school (private or public), day camp, youth groups, or other approved settings. Ability to assess crisis situations and provide intervention and other behavior modification procedures when needed is essential
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
