Job description

Title:                Material Coordinator
Client:              Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company

Location:         Milan, IL 61264
Duration:         2 Years (Possibility of extension)
Shift:                2nd Shift – 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM (Overtime possible)

Description

• Coordinates the flow of materials and the filling of Kanbans within a factory department, which may include shipping and receiving
• Ensures production personnel have required parts to meet production goals
• Oversees inventory accuracy and timeliness; identifies issues and suggests improvements to production schedules
• Ensures material logistics align with Company Production Systems principles
• Coordinates tactical execution of production plans within a smaller factory group
• Typically an entry-level position within the organization

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of the new SAP/EWM system into PDC
• Act as the material coordinator for the largest department on 2nd shift
• Direct picker activities to ensure accurate and timely order delivery
• Use warehouse management systems to track picking progress and update order status
• Address missing items, damaged goods, and system errors to minimize delays
• Track productivity metrics, report results, and recommend improvements
• Work occasionally in Excel; majority of work in Company mainframe/menu-driven systems, DNS (Dealer Network System), and WCS

Duties

• Coordinate department schedule performance for procuring, expediting, and movement of rejected materials to source
• Recommend procedures based on root cause and management review
• Identify root causes of material shortages
• Provide solution recommendations when applicable
• Use Master Schedule to create and distribute daily production schedules
• Process inbound and outbound material transactions
• Audit material replenishment cycles for accuracy
• Assist with creation of material replenishment plans
• Count and expedite parts to prevent production interruptions
• Work critical shortage reports to ensure part availability

Required Skills / Experience

• Exceptional data entry speed and accuracy with ability to focus for extended periods
• Self-motivated and willing to assist coworkers during slow periods
• Experience with inventory systems/tools; AS400 experience highly beneficial
• Strong attention to detail, timeliness, and excellent attendance
• Strong people skills; role supports a department of approximately 50 employees on 2nd shift
