Job description

Job purpose

The Shipping Clerk I supports CandyCo’s outbound shipping operations by preparing, labeling, and staging products for shipment. This entry-level role assists with loading trucks, following lot code and labeling requirements, and ensuring customer orders are prepared accurately and on time. The Shipping Clerk I works under direct supervision and helps maintain shipping accuracy and safety standards while learning CandyCo’s systems and processes.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Pick, prepare, and stage CandyCo products for outbound shipments following FEFO practices
  • Assist with loading trucks
  • Build and wrap pallets to company and customer standards
  • Properly label cartons, pallets or other shipping containers meeting CandyCo and customer specifications
  • Use CandyCo systems, handheld scanners, ERP/WMS for inventory movement and order completion
  • Verify counts and order details against pick lists or other documentation
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized dock and work area
  • Communicate with the Logistics team to ensure orders meet customer requirements
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing shipping records or updating shipping information in databases.
  • Works under close supervision and follows detailed instructions from senior staff or supervisors.
  • Work in a team to ensure 98% or greater on-time/in full delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the shipping team.


Qualifications

  • 1+ years of forklift experience; stand-up forklift experience is a bonus
  • 6+ months of shipping or warehouse experience
  • Works well under changing deadlines; organized and proactive
  • Meets high customer requirements with accuracy and consistency
  • Performs effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable handling


Working conditions

  • Must be able to work any and all shifts as directed.
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures.


Physical requirements

  • Must wear non-slip, safety-resistant work shoes.
  • Participation in mandatory pre-shift stretches and exercises.
  • Proper use of required PPE, including hairnets, beard nets (if needed), and safety gloves.
  • Must wear all required PPE when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection.
  • Physical ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walk around the facility, lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, reach, kneel, crawl, and twist.
  • Must possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates and others using professional etiquette.
