Datacenter Smart hands Technician - Entry Level

Pomeroy Technologies is seeking to fill a Smarthands Technician in our Dearborn, MI location.

This position is a Full Time Benefitted position. (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid PTO)

Monday - Friday (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) After Hours as needed.

General Function:

The selected candidate must possess the ability to perform standard break-fix triage for hardware and software on end user systems. The ideal candidate will be able to perform desk-side software support utilizing Windows Operating Systems. The person selected to fill this role will be responsible for responding to incoming service requests in a timely manner and following set up procedures for logging, reporting and monitoring desktop operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • PC Installs
  • PC Rollouts
  • Troubleshooting Network Issues
  • On General network failure with Back Office support infrastructure then Hands and Eyes resource will be guided by the BO teams to find a resolution in line with the account TDA
  • Assist and manage IT for migrations, deployment, build outs, trading floor offices wiring and cable management.
  • Attending trouble tickets and fault localization till its resolution
  • Must understand rack/elevation drawings, ability to rack/stack Cisco Spine and Leaf switches.
  • Mounting Servers & Network Devices.
  • Installation of servers Operating Systems like CentOs, Ubuntu, Windows Server, Proxmos, etc.
  • Providing 24/7 Tier2 support on Data Centre Operator (Infrastructures)
  • Escort 3rd party vendors into data centre

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:

  • Experience of working within Data Centres
  • Must be able to trace cables in rack to server.
  • Basic knowledge about LAN, WAN, IPMI, Power cables, Patch cables
  • Must be able to work well both independently and in team settings.
  • Must have excellent organization and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills are a must.
  • Must have excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Basic knowledge or Cisco switches
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • May be required to walk and or stand for extended periods of time.
