Job description

LC-MS/MS Technologist (General Supervisor Eligible)

Location: McKinney, TX
Schedule: Part-Time
Compensation: $35–45/hour (based on experience)

About the Opportunity

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with an innovative physician-owned toxicology laboratory in McKinney, TX to hire an LC-MS/MS Technologist. This is a hands-on laboratory position focused on toxicology testing using LC-MS/MS instrumentation in a growing, high-complexity clinical laboratory.

The ideal candidate will have some clinical toxicology experience, be comfortable working with LC-MS/MS instrumentation, and meet CLIA qualifications for a General Supervisor. While this is primarily a bench role, candidates should be capable of serving as the laboratory's General Supervisor if needed.

One of the unique benefits of this position is that Lighthouse Lab Services provides remote laboratory management support, including LC-MS/MS data review, analysis, quality oversight, and result reporting. This allows the on-site technologist to focus primarily on specimen preparation, instrument operation, quality control, and day-to-day laboratory workflow rather than spending time reviewing chromatograms or interpreting patient results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen preparation for toxicology testing.
  • Operate and maintain LC-MS/MS instrumentation for routine clinical testing.
  • Perform daily quality control, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
  • Review instrument performance and troubleshoot routine technical issues.
  • Ensure accurate specimen handling and documentation throughout the testing process.
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with workflow to ensure timely turnaround of patient results.
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership to support daily operations and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or another qualifying science.
  • Eligible to serve as a CLIA General Supervisor in a high-complexity laboratory.
  • Some experience working in a clinical toxicology laboratory.
  • Experience operating or training on LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.

Preferred

  • Experience with Agilent LC-MS/MS platforms.
  • ASCP certification (MLS, MT, or equivalent).
  • Experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory.
  • Familiarity with drugs-of-abuse or pain management testing.

Why Join This Team?

  • Competitive hourly pay ($35–45/hour)
  • Part-time work schedule
  • Work with modern LC-MS/MS instrumentation
  • Growing physician-owned laboratory
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to grow your technical expertise in clinical toxicology
