SUMMARY:
Perform testing, provide support, and write test reports for the Packaging Design & Development Laboratory in Covington GA. This is an entry level position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform testing on packaging materials and sterile barrier systems to ensure that the medical products will arrive at their destination undamaged and fit for use.
· Comply with applicable test standards (ASTM, ISO, ISTA, TAPPI).
· Generate accurate, complete, and timely laboratory reports.
· Maintain laboratory cleanliness and equipment readiness to ensure reliability and reproducibility of results.
· Support quality and regulatory requirements with audit readiness and continuous improvement activities.
· Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE:
· High School degree/GED required. Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline preferred.
· 1–3 years of experience in a regulated packaging or materials testing laboratory environment preferred.
· Ability to translate test requests into executable lab activities.
· Ability to understand and perform packaging test methods after minimal training; including compression testing, vibration testing, tensile testing, rub testing, bubble leak testing, etc.
· Ability to document, analyze, and report results clearly.
· Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
· Ability to set up and troubleshoot computerized laboratory test equipment.
· Strong analytical skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 25 pounds regularly (up to 50 pounds occasionally).
· Sufficient manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment, perform precision measurements, and execute hands-on testing procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Work is performed in both office and laboratory settings.
· Routine exposure to laboratory conditions, including use of sharp cutting instruments, mechanical equipment, and both dry and wet testing (including submerged samples).
· Exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including hot and cold temperatures consistent with conditioning/testing requirements.
· Occasional handling of chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and test method requirements.
