Austin, TX - 100% onsite

This is an entry level role -ย BS degree with no more than 2 years experience or a recently graduated MS degree with no post graduate experience.ย ย 

As an Application Engineer for Renesas Performance Computing Power Application engineering team, you will be part of a fast-paced power management applications team serving the AI and cloud infrastructure market. You will engage cross functionally with a diverse team including marketing, IC design, firmware engineering, and systems engineering teams to deliver the most innovative power solutions.

A broad comprehension of DC/DC power conversion is required including familiarity with digital multiphase PWM controllers. Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with senior applications engineers and evaluate new algorithms in the lab using a combination of FPGA, Microcontrollers, and custom Analog Front End.
  • Behavioral modeling of DC-DC converters including IC blocks using SIMPLIS and/or MATLAB to support design engineering team with new control architectures.
  • Support development efforts by contributing to product requirement documents to ensure design teams have the detailed information needed to execute and verify designs.
  • Develop collateral such as datasheets, performance reports, and application notes to support customer engagement.
Qualifications
  • This role requires good understanding of power management including magnetics, control loop theory, and component selection. Experience in embedded programming and synthesizing Verilog code into FPGA is highly desired.
  • BS degree with no more than 2 years experience or a recently graduated MS degree with no post graduate experience.
  • Experience with DC/DC converters with a good understanding of multiphase buck converters is a must.
  • Course work in digital systems, Verilog. Mixed-signal Integrated Circuit is highly desired.
  • Understanding of control loop theory and its application in power converters.
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment including network analyzers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.
  • Experience with automation of lab testing.
